Greening Operations Series Addressing Climate Change in New York City Hosptals

Description: As part of New York City’s plaNYC goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2017, 13 of New York City’s largest hospital systems agreed to accept Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Challenge and joint NYC in pledging to meet these same goals. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) through their Focus on Healthcare, is also partnering with the City to help meet these aggressive goals. This webinar will provide insight into the process and programs being used by NYSERDA and NYC to assist healthcare institutions in reducing their carbon footprint. We will also provide an in-depth case study of how a major medical college is developing a master plan that will enable them to reduce emmissions.

NYSERDA Healthcare Focus Webcast

Description: HANYS will host a Webcast to provide information about an initiative of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to assist health care providers in identifying resources to help save on energy costs and to institute more environmentally efficient practices. The program will feature representatives from NYSERDA and Luthin Associates, an energy consulting company, selected to assist NYSERDA with its New York Energy Smart Focus on Healthcare initiative. NYSERDA can assist health care providers with energy studies, sustainability planning, and financial incentives to help them make informed energy efficiency decisions. The Webcast will provide an introduction to the programs and resources available within NYSERDA and other agencies to help facilities with their energy planning.

NYSERDA President and CEO to Moderate Recovery Act Energy Opportunities

Description: Hosted by Governor David A. Paterson's Economic Recovery Cabinet, NYSERDA President and CEO Francis J. Murray Jr. will moderate a panel of State officials to provide an overview on two Recovery Act funded programs: the $5 million Energy Conservation Study program and the $74 million Project Implementation program. Questions regarding eligibility and the application process to access energy conservation and project implementation funds will be specifically addressed. Municipal governments, public K-12 schools, public colleges and universities, hospitals, not-for-profit organizations, and other parties interested in learning more about American Recovery and Reinvestment Act energy funding opportunities are encouraged to participate in this webcast presentation. A status update on the $24 million Energy Efficiency Conservation and Block Grant program, currently awaiting U.S. Department of Energy approval, will also be provided.
